Living Seeds Temple (2020)

In early Spring of 2020 with Covid-19 descending upon the world and food security a looming possibility we voted to grow food plants and save seeds.

The youth of the Earth Guardians Santa Fe Crew, volunteers of the Urban Farm site and Mother Nature Center’s first intern gathered together to assemble a “hoop” style greenhouse and fill it with plants and collect Open Pollinated seeds good for seed saving.

This project ended up distributing 4,600 plants in 2020 along with 1200 packets of seed. In 2021 we were able to grow twice that many and this year (2022) we’ve built a new dome Walapini greenhouse that is already filling with plants.

Our Seed Bank over a few seasons of growing and receiving seed grew from a handfuls to hundreds of thousands if not millions of seeds, not hard to do…. the Mathematics of Seed.
