Community Library (2020)

This vision started with a collection of books that had been read over the course of 15yrs but other then periodically picked up for research purposes they collected dust and the recorded stories inside called for an audience.

Through many conversations on how to shift consumeristic culture where every household, garage and shed accumulates many of the same books, tools and toys we are choosing to explore how to share books, tools and toys in order to reduce our communities draw on Earths resources. Consumeristic culture continues to harm ecosystems and communities globally. We thought it would be hard to convince people to stop wanting to use tools and toys but maybe we could begin to share our toys and tools, recreating a culture of sharing. In 2020 we build this structure that would house this library and make it available for new readers.

The structure choice was intentional to build something that can be easily learned to build, has minimal impact on the earth to acquire the materials needed and could be moveable with little impact on the environment where it sits. We were introduced to the the yurt during travels with our International Community.

In 2022 through a collaboration with Cruces Creatives and Seeding Regenerative Agriculture we plan to launch a Trade School where a Community Tool Library will be added.
